1979 – 1992

The Spangles were a meet-and-greet group for Gary Glitter when he returned from bankcruptcy to work the University circuit… before more dubious allegations!  Comprising of Jeff, Jeff’s cousing Jackie, Linda, Steve, Lynn and Martin, the Spangles travelled the country to hundreds of shows, tv and promotional appearances.

Jeff’s debut single.  The Martyr And The Moon was recorded again in 1992 and the new version became the b-side to Jeff’s single Never Question Why.  It was then remixed with a new lyric and renamed Angel.  Angel was a track on Jeff’s 1995 album Attitude and the Heaven Mix became a b-side to the 1995 single Reach Out (I’ll Be There).  Maltese Eurovision star Chiara also recorded Angel for her 2000 album What You Want.

Under Gary Winkler’s Globaldale Management, Dooyah! flourished on the R&B and live band circuit across the UK.  Working with big names like Fast Freddie & The Fingertips, The Boogie Brothers Blues Band, The Bay City Rollers and Georgie Flame and the Blue Flames, Dooyah! appearances included The 100 Club, Dingwalls, The Town & Country Club, The Mean Fiddler and The Cliff’s Pavilion.

They headlined at The Herald Of Free Enterprise Disaster Festival and recorded with Stevie Wonder’s producer Malcolm Cecil.  Radio appearances and play across the UK culminated in Essex Radio’s Roger Dexter co-producing their 1987 AA sided single ‘Love’s Where You Find It/Spend! Spend! Spend!’.

Dooyah! songwriter Gary Thompson had previously had chart success in the 70′s band Tonight.  Dave Dulake currently fronts Virgo Intacta.  2008 saw Dooyah! featured on BBC television’s Inside Out.  The live tracks In Praise Of Older Women and Wear It Out were written by Gary Thompson.

Jeff met Jeff Moody when he had been drummer to his previous band Berry Lane.  Prior to that, Moody had been drummer for Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson.

Tzotzil did few live performances, mostly around the South-East of England.  One highlight was a theatrical showcase at Radclythe Manor, Buckinghamshire in 1983.  There was also a Showcase Special on Basildon Radio, 1983.  They had a single release with ‘The Tzotzil’ in 1983.
